Character skill is how one shows up on a hard day – an important form of determination and courage to embrace discomfort, start before you feel ready, and to persist and adapt when things get tough (Adaptability is also LinkedIn’s top skill of the moment in 2024).

What makes these skills valuable and differentiating is that they don’t grow in a vacuum. For example, while a YouTube video can provide a solid theoretical understanding, true mastery comes from applying these skills in real-world contexts and gaining hands-on experience. You learn by doing, which requires opportunity.
